By definition, is a computer network is an interconnected set of kompter autonomous. In popular language that can be explained that the computer network is a collection of several computers that are connected to each other through the media intermediary. Media intermediaries can be either wired media or wireless media. The information in the form of data will flow from one computer to another or from one computer to another device, so that each computer connected can exchange data or different hardware.
For ease of understanding the network of computers, the experts then divide the computer network based on several classifications, including :
1. based on the area or scale
2. based on conductive media
3. by function
But there is also a classified computer network into four namely:
1. based on the area or scale
2. based on conductive media
3. by function
4. based access control methods
By Area computer network is divided into four namely :
1. LAN (Local Area Network): is a local network which is made in a closed area.
2. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network): using the same method with a LAN but a wider coverage area.
3. WAN (Wide Area Network): scope broader than the MAN.
4. Internet: is the interconnection of computer networks in the world.
Based on Media Conductor
1. Wire Network: a computer network using cable as a medium of Conductor.
2. Wireless Network: wireless network that uses radio waves Conductor media or infrared light.
Based Function
1. Client Server is a computer network in which one (may be more), the computer functioned as a server or host for another computer.
2. Peer to peer: a network of computers where each computer can be a server while the client.
